International Game Developers Association — IGDA — is a non-profit organisation serving the game developer community. IGDA has local chapters that provide valuable contacts for those students who are aiming to direct their studies towards career in game industry. IGDA has several working groups who sometimes produce White Papers or other reports that are of interest also to game studies academics. See:

Posted in Journals with tags game development, Journals on March 9, 2008 by fransCharles River Media established the Journal of Game Development (JOGD) in 2005 (if my memory serves me correctly), and currently there are three volumes available to subscribers — but you can access the article abstracts online. JOGD is technically oriented and serves particularly computer science and technical designer parts of the game studies community. See:
